4 More Days!!!

OMG guys…..4 days left until I’m sailing away towards the Caribbean!  It’s been 3 years since my last visit…*tear*.  I’m getting super antsy to get this vacation started & I’m hoping the days won’t fly by too fast because I’d like to actually relax and enjoy my time off.  I’m going to do my best not to think about the crazy amount of work I’ll probably be coming back to *gulp*.  I have a feeling it won’t be too hard though since I’ll be in good company and that’s the last thing we’re going to want to talk about!

In preparation for the cruise, I managed to get through all the laundry this past weekend and managed to find my shorts that have been in hiding.  Weird that I live in Florida and spend most of my time in jeans on the weekends!  I say, “weird” because this chick right here used to wear shorts and tees in the winter time back in Illinois with a foot of snow on the ground and temps in the teens.  Since I’ve moved to Florida…the warm weather has gotten the best of me and I don’t like the cold winter weather much at all anymore.  Now I’ve just got to find a pair of shoes that I know I have somewhere & then I should be set, clothes wise.  Managed to pick up some odds and ends at the store for the trip & went and got 1/2 inch chopped off the hair.  I also managed to sneak in a couple of tanning sessions here and there trying to get a little color on my ghostly white skin….I’ve actually managed to get a pretty good base tan, so I can’t complain.  Last thing I did to prepare for the trip was to run to Ulta and get my eyebrows shaped up.  Must of made a huge difference because I was even complimented on my brows today and how good they look.  That, my dear friends, is what happens when you have Bert brows…it’s quite noticeable as you can see below.

Typically, the beginning of the work week blows since you’re just itchin’ for the weekend to get here again.  I’ve honestly been so busy though, trying to make sure everything is done before my trip, I haven’t had time to even think about it or look at the clock.  Monday this week actually flew by for a change.  My super sweet president of the campus I work at also bought me a super cuter Eiffel Tower wall hanging, since every time she see anything to do with Paris, she thinks of me since that’s how I have my office decor themed around, plus I really want to go!  Isn’t it adorbs?!

Oh, Oh, Oh….before I forget.  I must share with you the awesome Scentsational & Better Homes & Gardens scented wax cubes I came across at Wal-mart this weekend.  They are like the Scentsy wax, just cheaper!  Only $2 each!  Anyways…the most amazing new scent I came across this weekend was called “Cupcake”!  AMAZING!  Tried it out at work today and everyone loved it.  Someone might have even licked the wall it smelled so good…LOL!  It could be dangerous though….everyone was craving cupcakes after being in my office.  The other scents I found were Gooey Marshmallow S’more and A Thankful Harvest!  The S’more one smells just like the gooey mess that you love to eat!  A Thankful Harvest reminds me of a Yankee Candle that I used to have that comes out around this time of year.  Don’t miss out….I promise it’ll make your home or office smell awesome!

It’s the Little Things: Runways & Wine

As I was sitting here this morning, having a hot cup of camomile tea, writing up my little things post for the week, I realized….

Nothing like an unbirthday to start off the day!  I may have to have a “Me Party” and celebrate with the half full bottle of wine in my fridge door that screams “Drink Me” every night when I get home from work.  It’s definitely been a trying week on the work front this week from paperwork overload, but there have been little things that have made me smile.

* Monday, after work, was the yearly fashion show at the Mall of Millennia that featured several of the students from the school I work & their clothing lines they made especially for the show.  I’m not a fashion guru by any means, but a couple of the students I know really well were in in show and it made me so proud to see their work in the show and how freakin’ excited they were for the experience.

* Dinner out with a couple of friends on a week night….I know…really living it up!  Whoop, whoop!

* Being the judge of a “Who’s Hair Is Softer” contest.  No joke!  I got to run my fingers through a couple peoples hair…outside in a parking lot, none the less.  I ruled it a tie.  No…none of us had been drinking.  Scouts honor!

* Midweek….I had wine for dinner.  Isn’t it great to be an adult! 🙂

* I came home from work one day to a box on my doorstep from Influenster.com with the Naturals Voxbox full of things to try out and review.  Look for that post at a later day.  Gotta love free stuff!

* 8 DAYS TILL I’M HEADING OUT TO SEA!  It really can’t get here fast enough!

* Is anybody else out there getting super excited for all the t.v. shows starting back up the last week of September?  Sundays are going to rock!  “Once Upon A Time”, “Revenge”, “666 Park Avenue”….holy cow I love this line up!  About the only other show I’m looking forward to is “Grey’s Anatomy”.  What shows are you looking forward to watching this fall??  Inquiring minds want to know!

*Last but not least…….IT’S FRIDAY BITCHES!!  Now if that doesn’t make you happy, I just don’t know what will!

Have a super great weekend everyone!  Happy Friday!

Blog Award Q&A

As I was catching up on some blog reading, I noticed the adorable Miss Stephanie over at Simply Stephanie, nominated me for a blog award.  Now I’m not one for doing the whole blog award thing, so if anyone out there has ever nominated me for an award and I didn’t mention it, please don’t be offended…I just don’t usually blog about it.  I figured I’d go ahead and at least answer the questions that accompanied this award, as I have a hard time not answering a list of questions when presented with said list.  If you read my blog…I nominate you for this blog award, so feel free to post on your blog and answer the questions below.  Oh, and if you are wondering what “Liebster” means, evidently it means “Favorite” in German.

1. If you could go out to dinner with anyone in the world (alive, not dead-that’s just weird), who would it be and why?

Mmm, I think if I could go out to dinner with anyone in the world I’d choose Prince Harry.  I love watching & reading up on the royal family, so I think it would be interesting to pick his brain and get the scoop from his point of view.  Plus, I have a thing for red heads! 🙂

2. More peanut butter or more jelly?

Most of the time, I’d say peanut butter. BUT…if I use it with orange marmalade…I choose more of that, as I’m like Paddington Bear when it comes to delicious orange marmalade!

3. If you could take a vacation to anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would it be and why?

That’s easy!  The number one place on my list since FOREVER has been Greece.  It’s absolutely stunning from all the pictures I’ve ever seen and I just think it would be awesome, not to mention seeing historic ruins!  Number two on this list is Fiji, just in case you were curious. 🙂

4. You win the jackpot with the lotto- what do you do?

I would make sure all of my parents debts were paid off and taken care of, plus give them a good chunk of it to do whatever they wanted…same for the little bro and sis.  Then I’d pay off my student loans and any debt and then invest in real estate to rent of additional income, then I’d open up a business or several of my own with any friends who wanted to join in…how fun?!

5. If you could create anything, what would it be?

World Peace (that’s my beauty pageant answer)

6. You are granted the ability to do whatever job you want- what is it?

Travel Writer….been at the top of my jobs list since I was super young.  Even got a degree in Travel & Tourism I loved the industry so much.

7. Most favorite book is…?

To Kill A Mockingbird

8. Most favorite invention to date is?

GPS because I’m horrible at using a map for directions.

9. If you could help the world in any one way, what would it be and why?

If it was possible…I would clean up the oceans completely, so all of the living creatures had the best environment possible to live and thrive in.

10. You find a magic lamp with a genie who grants you three wishes. What do you do?

1. Perfect Vision  2. An endless supply of cash  3. To be an awesome surfer

11. Why do you blog?

It’s one of my creative outlets.  I’ve always loved writing…especially about travel and vacations & such.  Plus, it’s an awesome way to get to know people from all around the world and make some pretty good friends.

Daydreaming & Shopping

13 days and counting until the cruise & it can’t get here fast enough!  I have never been so ready for a vacation, as it’s been way too long since my last!  Plus I’m uber excited to be going with the BFF!  My last besties vacay was back in ’97 or ’98 when I was in college and went on Spring Break to none other than….Walt Disney World, which is now practically in my back yard!

So, now I’m sitting here on a Sunday night, dreading the thought of having to make it another full two weeks of work until some well earned R&R!  On the plus side of things though, I’ve been busy shopping and trying to find a few new things to wear on the cruise.  I’m not a shopper and despise it, but I was able to find a few good pieces to add to the wardrobe & most of them were on sale, which makes it even better.  This weekend I hit up a couple of malls and finally found a black dress for the captains dinner on the cruise.  I’m not a dress person whatsoever, so I wasn’t going to be happy with anything, but I had the hardest time finding ANYTHING!  Supposedly, it’s not dress season if you’re not a size 2!  Anyways, I got a suggestion from a good sales lady and landed a decent dress on sale for $30, which you can’t beat that!

Another thing that has kept me busy this weekend is coming up with ideas of goodies to send my foodie penpal!  This is my first month signing up, so I’m excited to see what my foodie penpal will think of the box of goodness I put together for her.  Plus, you’re not matched up with the same person that’s sending you stuff, so you get to “meet” two new people in the process, which is really fun getting to e-mail back and forth with some new peeps, plus you get introduced to new blogs….FUN!  Anyways, the matches are sent out on the 5th of the month, so if you’d like to join in and be a Foodie Penpal, you can read more and sign up over at the The Lean Green Bean blog.

Anyways, sorry not to have anything too exciting to post about.  I’ve just been preoccupied daydreaming of vacation.  I’ve cruised many times before & it’s always been a blast, so I’m super stoked!  Oh yeah, if you want a good suggestion for something to get the next time you run to Super Target…or at least that’s where I bought mine, buy yourself some White Chocolate Wonderful Peanut Butter!  OMG….BEST peanut butter EVER!  It’s this yummy gluten free peanut butter blended with sweet white chocolate.  They had a chocolate blend as well, but I’m sure it’s similar to Nutella, so I wanted to try something a little different & so glad I did!  Well, hope y’all have a great week!

Blueberry Banana Bread

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!  It was nice to have a three day weekend!  I didn’t do much, but I did manage to bake a loaf of Blueberry Banana Bread since I had some super ripe bananas that weren’t going to get eaten.  I’ve never made banana bread with blueberries, but figured, how can you go wrong by adding blueberries, as they are delicious!  This is the best banana bread recipe ever because it’s my mom’s and she makes the best.  Mine never looks or tastes as good as hers, but it’s still good.  I’ll put the original recipe below…the only thing I did different was I used whole wheat flour and added blueberries.

Blueberry Banana Bread

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 large bananas
  • 1 cup blueberries (leave out if you just want plain banana bread)
*Cream butter and sugar together in a bowl.  Add eggs.  Stir in mashed bananas and vanilla.  Blend in dry ingredients.  Pour into greased loaf pan.  Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes.  Time may vary depending on oven.

Blueberry Banana Bread batter going in the oven to create yumminess and makes your house smell good!

Finished product….two thumbs up in my book! Delicious!

20 Days & Counting…

That’s right….20 days and counting until an actual VACATION!!  I’m so excited!  It’s been way to long since I’ve actually taken a real vacation & what makes it even better….it’s a girls vacay with the BFF!  I’ve never taken an all girls vacation, so this should be fun…..like a 5 day slumber party.  I’m sure we’ll find plenty to do on the cruise ship & we’ve already got one of our excursions planned to the Mayan Ruins, which I haven’t been to yet, so that should be great!  Might as well go see the ruins of the people responsible of creating this calendar that ends in December…LOL!  The same day we booked the cruise, I got an e-mail for a Groupon offer for tanning, so I bit….I need to get some color before the cruise, so I went yesterday and today and already got some color, although I think I burned my bum…lol.  Oh well…fat looks better tan! 🙂  Now just keep your fingers crossed I can find a dress for the fancy dinner for one of the evenings on this ship.  I went in search today and came up empty handed!  The few I did find and liked were $100+…..uh, no thank you, especially since I don’t wear dresses!  I did find a swim suit top on clearance for $5 at JC Penny though, so I was happy I at least found something.  Any how….I’m counting down the days till a little R&R.  Speaking of R&R….hope everyone enjoys there Labor Day!
